Virtual Wine Tasting

On June 12, 2021, we held our Virtual Wine Tasting event over Zoom. In the past, the the Italian American Club host the wine tasting event at the Reserve Wine & Food downtown Grand Rapids. Due to COVID restrictions, this was not possible this year, so we have hosted our first Virtual Wine Tasting event instead. The IA Club still partnered with Reserve Wine & Food, and the event was conducted by Patrick Jobst, Advanced Sommelier at Reserve. We tasted wines from the Piemonte region of Italy, specifically a Tintero Arneis, Vietti Barbera, and Oddero Barolo.

Patrick’s knowledge of the area and the wines proved to be remarkably interesting and there was ample time for questions and answers. The discussion periods allowed us time to sip and really appreciate the wine, as opposed to “try this, try this, and try this” and you’re done approach.

Thanks to Patrick Jobst and Reserve Wine & Food for providing their expertise, and make this a very enjoyable, while still staying safe at home. Also thanks to our Club Trustee Rob Budinsky for his work organizing the event. This has become an annual event and we look forward to what Rob and our Club has planned for us next year.
